Tell us who you are and what you do.
I am an artist who loves to illustrate, paint, design, and take photographs. I love to draw and I am always looking for new mediums to use with my illustrations. I have a BFA in illustration, and a minor in advertisement design.

When did you know you wanted to be an artist and was it always your goal?
I knew I want to be artist since I was able to hold a pencil or crayon. My earliest memory is about me creating art work. I have been designing my own world since I was three.

What inspires you the most when it comes to your artwork?
I am inspired by the world around me. Music, fashion, food, and travel are all great sources of inspiration. Anything and everything is a possible source of inspiration. My moods many times inspire some of my art work. My feelings and moods can often times be felt in my work. In other words some of my art work is very expressionistic in nature.

Describe your style.
My style is very modern and graphic. I love fashion and music so my work is usually inspired by both passions. My work is bold, colorful, and vibrant.

Who is your favorite artist (famous or not famous…living or dead) and why?
I have many favorite artist. I would have to say that I love Artists who were fearless when it came to their use of color, design, and subject matter. Some of my favorite artist are: Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Joan Miro, Salvador Dali, Andy Warhol, and Frida Kalho. All these artist have been great inspiration to me through out my life.

What’s your favorite piece that you’ve created?

One of my favorite Art works was one that I created my freshmen year in college. It was a huge surreal illustration which I made with pencil, ink, and crayons.

How do you get into a creative head space?

I flip through magazine, books, Tumblr, Pinterest, or anything that is visually stimulating and I listen to music to get the creative juices flowing.

What has been the most challenging part of being an artist and creating commissioned work? (As opposed to just creating art for yourself.)
I had a difficult time creating any art work when my kids where younger. Having to be a full time Mother of young kids really impacted my creative abilities. Now that my kids are a little older I find more time to get my creative juices going and I am able to create on regular basis. I have just started back into the Art world after a ten year absence. I am back and full of energy and need to make up for lost time. I have not been doing any commissioned work yet—-I am just creating work because it brings me great pleasure.

How do you keep yourself motivated on the hard days?
When I am tired or having a hard day I just try to relax and look at other artists work to inspire me. I pin a lot on Pinterest and it always helps me get back into a creative mode.

Professionally, what’s your goal?
I love creating Art work and when people love and buy my work it magnifies my pleasure. Being an artist is just part of who I am and being a successful artist who sells work is a happy dream. An artist creates a world and loves to share it.

What is your dream project?

My dream project is to own my own Art gallery and give opportunity to young artists to show their work. I would love to have an art gallery/studio where I could teach art and show art to all types of people. Art makes this world a better place.

What advice do you have for aspiring artists?

My advice for aspiring artist is to just get started. Don’t wait around for an opportunity to come to you. Start working and showing your creations. Don’t be afraid of rejection or compare yourself with others.

What are you working on right now?
I am working on more illustrations of course. I am going to combine my love for photography and illustration together to make very cool creations inspired by nature and art. I have many ideas. I am also planning to start painting this Fall again.

Tell us something little known about you. (ie embarrassing moments, favorite food, silly obsessions)
I love to travel. It’s a big passion of mine. I love to learn about different culture and languages. I speak three languages (Spanish, French and English) and I am learning more. I have a Master’s in Bilingual education and I tutor conversational Spanish every now and then.
