Seller Spotlight – Handmade Cream w/ Cream Junkie

Consumers are becoming more and more conscious about where their products come from and what goes into them. Most of us consider the ingredients we put in our body on a daily basis but many people overlook the ingredients that go on our bodies. Because many chemicals can be absorbed by our skin and into our bloodstream, it’s important that the ingredients in your bath and body products are safe. A homemade line like Cream Junkie is the perfect solution.

Take a look at some of the ingredients found in a widely known bath and body brand and some of the potential hazards of them compared to the alternatives Cream Junkie uses for their 100% Natural, Sulphate free, Parabens free, Soy free, Gluten free, Vegan & Vegetarian Friendly line.

Propylparaben – a paraben that acts as a preservative to extend shelf life

Effects: can cause allergic reactions, skin rashes and preliminary research found parabens in human breast cancer tumors

Diazolidinyl Urea – used as a preservative to extend shelf life

Effects: studies have concluded that the effects can result in: carcinogen, causes allergic reactions and contact dermatitis; headaches; irritates mucous membranes; damaging to eyes; linked to joint and chest pain; depression; headaches; fatigue; dizziness and immune dysfunction.

Cream Junkie does not use commercial preservatives. Instead we are proud to be a pioneer in the eco, green and sustainable area of safer environmental technologies that get us away from traditional dangers: such as parabens. Our research is extensive and our lab tests show that Cream Junkie products are stable, and you may expect a minimum 1 year shelf life from opening, ideally use within 3 months upon opening.

Fragrance (Parfum) – artificial fragrances are used because they are cheaper than using natural scents.

Effects: they are made from petroleum or coal which degrade the environment and cause skin irritations

Cream Junkie only uses pure, organic essential oils……never fragrant oils

Cetyl Alcohol – generally used as a thickening agent in creams and lotions

Effects: people who suffer from eczema can be sensitive to this ingredient

Cream Junkie uses 100% Fair Trade Organic Unrefined Shea Nut Butter. The refining process kills approximately 80 nutrients in Shea Nut Butter, leaving essentially a thick butter that will moisturize, however, it does not retain any of the healing properties for skin ailments other than moisturization.

Methylparaben – acts as an anti-fungal agent

Effects: Methylparaben is produced naturally and found in several fruits however there is controversy about whether methylparaben or propylparabens are harmful at concentrations typically used in body care or cosmetics.

Cream Junkie uses Organic Burdock which is antiseptic and antibacterial, anti fungal properties used topically to calm certain skin conditions.

Petrolatum – a by-product of petroleum and used as a skin protectant

Effects: can cause skin irritations and rashes. It is not absorbed into the skin, leaving it feeling greasy. Because it sits on the skin, it may suffocate the skin; skin cells can die due to lack of oxygen and thus cause premature aging. Petrolatum may also cause skin photosensitivity or promote sun damage.

Instead you will find ingredients like Horsetail (Bottlebrush) – Nutrient-rich herbal, high in silica, essential to collagen production. A vegan alternative to collagen treatments. It firms and refreshes the skin and promotes healing.
